tyrrelstown to cherryhound interchange Link road (n2-n3 Link)
the goal of this Dublin project is to establish a road link between the country’s
two major national primary roads (N2 and N3) with the potential of further
linkage southward toward the N4 and eastward toward Dublin Airport from
the Cherryhound interchange. This would also be the key link for around 400
hectares of zoned land on either side.
Input files in Bentley MXROAD provided flexibility in dealing with the
changes made to the link roads and roundabouts – particularly changes
to the geometry of roundabouts and slip lanes, and applying levels to the
carriageway edges. The predicted impact of the proposed development on
community and land use is expected to be positive in terms of traffic levels,
noise, air quality, and road safety.

Lotto 1 is part of a larger feasibility study involving an upgrade to Provincial
Road nr. 24, which runs through mountainous terrain. The Lotto 1 segment
will be upgraded first because of the high geological risks it poses to those
traveling on it. The design includes the construction of a new tunnel in a less
geologically hazardous location and the elimination of a section road that has
a narrow carriageway and winding alignment.
The project team’s use of Bentley MXROAD for its design work enabled it
to quickly analyze the alignment and road surface. In addition, because the
software had been localized, the team was able to take into account new
design and construction rules for the province of Bolzano.
