WA Nautical Chart — Albany dept for planning and infrastructure, Western australia
The Department for Planning and Infrastructure produces 55
navigational charts that cover significant recreational boating
areas in Western Australia. This project was the production
of a nautical chart at Albany, located on the southern coast
of the state. By standardizing on Bentley software, the entire
chart program develops a seamless data set of marine
information along the populated parts of the West Australian
coastline.
These data sets are easily used for other mapping and
research activities encompassing biodiversity and marine
habitats, oil spill management, coastal management,
facilities and infrastructure planning, and construction.
The estimated saving in drafting time for each new chart
is 10 percent (five to 10 working days). The estimated
saving for each revision is 20 percent (two to eight
working days).

…the fact that we were nominated as an
Australian entry is an achievement in itself
and hopefully increases our profile within
the organization…
