Efficiency and Productivity in Cadastral Mapping vyzkumny ustav geodeticky, topograficky a Kartograficky (vugtK)
The goal of this project in the Czech Republic was to make the
process of digital cadastral mapping easier, more accurate,
and consistent with legislative requirements. It involved the use
of MicroStation to help automate the creation of all digital
sketches used in the renovation of the cadastre, including
basic sketches, sketches for examination of administrative
boundaries, and field sketches.
After all field survey sketches in the area of interest are calculated, coordinates of detailed points are loaded into the
database. Correct positions are assigned for all features
drawn in the sketches, with correct topological structure.
Selected features are converted into the design of the
digital map in the MicroStation environment, which can
easily handle the large number of feature transfers often
associated with this process.
Fremantle TravelSmart Map dept for planning and infrastructure, Western australia
TravelSmart is a successful Western Australian community-based program that encourages people to use alternatives to
traveling in their private car such as walking, cycling, public
transport, car pooling, or working from home. One of the
products that the program uses is the production of information-rich transport maps.
By standardizing all transport-related map production on
Bentley software, the cartographic office has developed a
seamless data set of transport and related information for
most of the major urban areas of Western Australian. These
data sets are easily used for other mapping and research
activities such as transport planning, bus route mapping, local
recreation maps, infrastructure mapping, and transport access-
ibility maps. The estimated saving for each new TravelSmart
map in drafting time is 40 percent (eight to 12 working days)
and for each revision it is 25 percent (one to three working days).
