This landmark project is the corner-piece of Orange County’s
first urban master-planned community in the hub of the Irvine,
Calfornia, business district. Within Central Park West, there
are eight communities with multiple parks, retail shops, and
walking paseos. Renwick was the most complex because it incorporated both post-tensioned and conventionally reinforced
concrete elevated decks as well as a mat foundation design.

Mixed-use construction is very challenging because the
geometry can get very complicated and the design team
needs to have the budget and resources to pay attention
to the details. Bentley’s RAM solutions allowed VanDorpe
Chou Associates to efficiently integrate with a high production environment and streamline its workflow so models are
efficiently constructed; bar layouts and rebar sizes are
easily exported; and changes are rapidly incorporated.
Anasazi Downtown is a nine-story, mixed-use project in
Albuquerque, New Mexico. The $12 million project consists
of retail space at grade level, two parking levels, and six
residential levels. Located on a small site in the heart of
downtown, construction access is limited and was a determining factor for the use of steel for the superstructure.
To model the steel frame, Walla Engineering used Bentley’s
RAM Steel, which gave the firm the ability to visualize critical
potential conflicts within the steel framing. It also provided
the ability to model the project and provide more accurate
information to the fabricator for easier steel fabrication.
