Länsförsäkringar Jämtland Bank & Försäkring s Weco ffns arkitekter aB
Länsförsäkringar Jämtland, a Swedish banking and insurance
company, is constructing a new building on top of the existing
Storsjöteatern (a theater) on the city square. Swedish laws
allow for a “building on building,” which means the site is
divided vertically as well as horizontally, with separate owners
for each. The new building extension will be four stories high
with a glass façade. The proposed solution will only require
a total of five columns be cut through the existing building.
One of the challenges was to find an architectural design
that created a fine balance between the existing building and
new one. This was accomplished using MicroStation and
the 3D modeling and visualization capabilities of Bentley
Architecture. When the rough design of the building parameters,
number of floor plans, width, and depth were set, the design
team then communicated with external constituents through
visualizations, conceptual drawings in PDF format, and
DWG files.
“
It is an honor to be considered for recognition
among such talented people and firms. It makes
you step back and realize that the quality of the
work produced in the hectic cycle that often
exists during building projects is worth the effort.
