and maximizing production.
City of Edmonton, Canada
An Enterprise Training Subscription (ETS) was used by the
city to enhance the efficiency of its staff, maintain in-house
standards, and explore new solutions for complex design
problems. The ETS was also a natural solution to providing
quality training for staff at various levels of proficiency —
from new hires to administrators.
The City of Edmonton (COE) employed an Enterprise Training
Subscription to assist in an organizationwide MicroStation
update. The city prioritized the needs of different levels of
users and worked with the Bentley Institute to develop a
training plan that included instructor-led distance learning,
Bentley LEARN Server materials, and OnDemand eLearning,
in addition to traditional classroom training. This blend allowed
the COE to train a diverse group of users in various locations
with minimal time lost to travel.
Additionally, MicroStation V8 Administrator training took
place before the business area rollouts. This helped ensure
that administrators were well prepared to answer questions
from their staff. The training also helped COE develop and
obtain consensus by teaching methods to standardize and
consolidate these objects, significantly reducing the effort
necessary for conversion activities.
