Bim for architecture
Moscow Road markland Klaschka Ltd
Close to Notting hill in London, Moscow Road has an active
local community and a high tourist population. The project’s
goal was to maximize the amount of residential and retail or
eatery space on the site. The ground floor is badly underutilized
and although the street frontage presents the opportunity for
outdoor eating, the pavements are narrow and noisy, limiting
the possibilities. Markland Klaschka’s solution was to create
an inward-facing courtyard scheme that maximized visibility
and access.

A major challenge was to keep the vertical footprint to a
minimum. Using Bentley Architecture, 3D volumetric models
were created, allowing Markland Klaschka to resolve the
vertical circulation 30 percent faster and ultimately reclaim
as much as 5 percent of the floor space. Integration and
automation of output from the project enabled the creation
of a project dashboard that provided rapid evaluation of
design options.
The $100 million William J. Clinton Presidential Center is
located within a new 30-acre public park along the south
bank of the Arkansas River. The integrated architectural and
site design transforms a former industrial site of old warehouses
and undeveloped open space into a singular destination
that is an integral element in the revitalization and expansion
of downtown Little Rock, Arkansas.
Polshek Partnership Architects used Bentley’s BIM solutions
for its 3D modeling, which it found to be an easy-to-use
environment for designers and superb for its integration of
2D, 3D, and visualization. This integration allowed more
time for design and access to a broad range of 2D and 3D
design tools.
