Bergesen Worldwide Offshore — Bilabri-FPOS Upgrade m7 offshore
Whakaaropai is a Suezmax-sized vessel operating on the Maui
B oil field off of New zealand for Shell Todd Oil Services Ltd.
Built in 1976 and converted in 1995/96, she was renamed
Bilabri and upgraded as part of the new project to engineer
a new test separator module and a riser balcony.
Tying a new module into an existing one of this size is
normally a complex engineering task, but a model was
created using Bentley software with accuracy down to
a millimeter by scanning the site and obtaining a point-cloud model. Bentley Cloud Worx converted the interface
sections into CAD elements to be imported into the CAD
model. The firm also used PlantSpace to produce quick,
nonintelligent P&IDs, 3D models and ISO production,
and 3D steel models and drawings.
Eastern Treatment Plant — Sludge Augmentation Project sinclair Knight merz
The goal of this project was to design an upgrade to the primary
sludge circuit at Melbourne Water’s Eastern Treatment Plant in
Australia. The upgrade to the primary sludge circuit involves
the installation of four gravity belt thickeners to thicken the
primary sludge prior to its being sent to the sludge digesters.
Challenges included the data capture of existing plant systems
within such tightly spaced underground galleries.
Bentley solutions, including MicroStation and Bentley
Cloud Worx, transformed 3D laser-scanned point clouds
into 3D models, which allowed the firm to integrate the
pipework into the equipment galleries. Laser scanning
and 3D modeling reduced the time to design the pipework
layout and minimized redesign to sections of the pipework
that changed. Manual measuring and producing CAD
data from this would have been prohibitive.
