Integrated Piping Engineering Tools in a Multiproject Engineering Environment at BASF Antwerp Basf antwerpen n.v.
BASF Antwerp is the second largest BASF site, with 53
chemical units and a total of 3,600 employees. BASF
requested that Bentley automate and speed the flow of
BOMs in its SAP system. BASF wanted design series
projects to be set up quickly in a multiproject integrated
environment to minimize project overhead.
What resulted was a customized program that gathers all
information from the IsoExtractor BOMs and creates the
input for the BASF-developed ENSYS system, a front-end
application for the SAP material requisitioning module.
Synergetic efforts have resulted in a complete workflow that
ranges from master data up to SAP material reservation.
Bentley solutions used include PlantSpace Design Series,
Bentley Structural, Bentley Architecture, and others.

FINALIST
Proven on projects across Australia, South Africa, Chile, and
Canada, the hatch WorkSMART Data-Centric Environment
has become a corporate standard for data-centric project
execution. It is currently in use on 10 major hatch EPCM
projects across four continents. Data generated from the
WorkSMART environment is used in MicroStation, Bentley
Navigator, and an in-house commissioning control system
to provide constructors with accurate information.
Since the database provides access control, data is secure and
centralized. The design data is linked to other data sources,
enhancing stability and permitting further development of
the environment. The integration of the project data and the
engineering workflows has radically changed the way hatch
looks at project data, and is rapidly changing the historical
methodologies that its engineers have traditionally used.
