East Brae Low-Pressure Operations petrofac
The East Brae facility is located approximately 150 miles
North East of Aberdeen, Scotland in 120 meters of water.
A steel-legged fixed platform installed in the early 1990s,
it produces gas and associated condensate, both of which
are exported via pipeline to onshore sites for further processing.
The facility has approximately 10 wells in production drilled
from the platform, and also produces gas and condensate
from a subsea tieback to the main host.
During the design phase of the project, the AutoPLANT suite
was populated with the required piping specifications for
the facility. By close interaction of the AutoPLANT modeler
in conjunction with the cloud-point scan, suitable routings for
the new pipework and valving were identified. This approach
has avoided clashes, as the scan information is as-built and
accurate to +/- 5 millimeters.

FINALIST
Council Bluffs Energy Center is located within the city limits
of Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition to the new Unit 4, a 790-
megawatt supercritical pulverized coal-fired plant under
construction, the center also consists of three operating coal-fired units. Due to the limited space availability for the plant
itself, close coordination was necessary with the construction
team to sequence release of design.
Sargent & Lundy managed the 3D model for the project by
integrating models from all major equipment suppliers, which
served as the primary tool for walkthroughs, constructability
reviews, interference checking, and for general communication
with other organizations. Using Bentley Navigator, walk-throughs were conducted using online collaboration, and
the application tracked comments, design activities, and
action items that saved significant time in the schedule.
