WINNER Building Up NCPE Content Management Platform with Project Wise as the Core north china power engineering (Beijing) co., Ltd
After computerizing all its design work, North
China Power Engineering (NCPE) needed a
well-managed design and information exchange
and publication process that would be traceable
and satisfy quality-control requirements. In addition, the implementation of design projects, design
workflows for project team members, and human
resources management required a suitable platform.
Project Wise has helped NCPE automate and
integrate the design workflows of all of its projects.
This collaboration system is managing the whole
design process and related activities, as well as
data exchanges among all departments. In addition, the individual actions of a task can each
be tracked.
NCPE took advantage of the development
environment of Project Wise to create a work-flow-controlled application for publishing and
archiving. It provides capabilities such as data
sharing among disciplines, co-signature flow,
quick project creation, and work scheduling.
These functions are integrated with NCPE’s
ERP management system.
NCPE uses Project Wise to manage all of its 1,550
projects. The company operates 142 600-kilowatt
generators and 102 5-million kV power lines and
substations. It has started survey and design work
for 93 300-kilowatt generators and 102 5-million
kV power lines and substations. NCPE reports
that its design management tools have been well
accepted by clients and partners.
NCPE and government-owned power companies
have agreed to share digital design content
using Project Wise. Currently, Project Wise holds
19 data sources, 420,000 shared files, more than
52,000 process transfer and audits, and more
than 240,000 electronic documents and relevant
hardcopies.
