Spatially Enabled Project Wise Environment of Genova Port autorità portuale di genova
At approximately 15 kilometers in length, Genoa is one of the
busiest harbors in the world. The Italian Genoa Port Authority
is responsible for all the assets and operation and land-use
planning within its territory. Since data storage had been disk-
based, it was time-consuming and cumbersome for the Port
Authority’s 200 workers and third parties to access information.
The biggest challenge was to allocate staff time for the review
and recovering of historical data and reconstruction of project
histories — all while keeping the daily work running. Before the
Project Wise implementation, each employee in the technical
departments spent 30 to 50 percent of his or her working time
locating, copying, and printing existing documents. That time
has been cut in half, saving about two hours of work per
employee per day.
Fitting IRIDE GIS System for Multi-Network Integration iride energia
This project, named New SIT, upgrades the GIS previously in
use at IRIDE S.p.A. — formed by the merging of AEM Torino
and AMGA Genov — to allow the network planning, customer
care, and on-site maintenance departments to share a uniform
database (both alphanumeric and graphic) and satisfy the
individual needs of each department. The challenge was to
achieve the highest level of innovation and advance the
integration of the company’s processes and systems.
The approach uses work collaboration methods to permit the
seamless integration of IT data assets so work processes are
optimized and costs reduced. The new system architecture is
based on Bentley Geospatial Server, Project Wise, Project Wise
Connector for Oracle, and Bentley Map, which integrate
company and extra-company legacy applications involved
in all processes related to networks managed by IRIDE.
