Managing Sheets teague nall & perkins, inc
The goal of this project was to alleviate project time spent
on title blocks and index sheets. Originally, Teague Nall &
Perkins would handwrite the sheet numbers into the title block
of every submittal, which was a very time-consuming task
and would take much time away from meaningful project
requirements. The challenge of the project was to develop a
program that was 100 percent automated. The only way to
accomplish this was to make the program all inclusive so that
the user had little or no interaction with the construction of
title blocks and index sheets.
The most efficient workflow to come from this project is the
creation of index sheets and title blocks. These two programs
and Teague Nall & Perkins’ custom database have saved
more than 40 hours per project. Consistency between the
index and sheets has also improved. Because one database
is used between them, they are always the same. The soft ware
platform of choice in this project is MicroStation.
AirMap — Aeronautical Maps Under Control vojenska Letecka infromacni sluzba
AirMap is a collaboration between the Czech Army —
Department of Aeronautical Information Services, Bentley,
and local partner hSI. Its goal was to fully automate the
creation and updating of aeronautical maps (AIP, ENR,
and “big” maps) for use by pilots that fly over the Czech
Republic. The solution needed to include tools that would
enable the mapping data to be integrated with other air
traffic control systems.
The decision was made to use object-oriented technology
and the solution chosen was MicroStation GeoGraphics.
The new AirMap provides complete control over the content
and accuracy of the new maps and saves a great deal of
time ( 60 to 90 percent over the previous method) during
map creation and editing since staff is now working with
objects (beacons, routes, and airports) instead of polygons,
lines, and dots.
