TourSet Production adac e.v.
With nearly 16 million members, Munich, Germany-based
ADAC e.V. is Europe’s largest automobile club. The club
produces a comprehensive travel guide called the ADAC
TourSet that includes maps and descriptions of points of
interest. Each description has a link placed in the respective
map to help the user easily find the geographical position of
each point of interest. The ADAC TourSet covers 44 countries
in Europe, North and South Africa, Australia/New zealand,
and North America.
To provide 300 individual tourist modules, ADAC must
manage more than 1650 cartographic drawings and keep
roughly 150 maps up to date. The maps are now produced
and updated in a GIS using MicroStation and MicroStation
GeoGraphics, along with car navigation data from Nav Teq.
Intelligent Mining Solution itgrid
FINALIST
The Intelligent Mining Solution is a geospatial information
management system created to manage mine-related requirements for the South African Assmang Iron Ore Mines. The
project was divided into three modules: Land and Asset
Management, Rehabilitation Management, and Environmental
Process Management. The project pulls data from different
independent systems such as weather stations, dust monitoring
stations, and water quality analysis laboratories.
Prior to the development of the solution, workflows were all
manual and paper-based. Now, a live Web interface reports
back on the status quo on these independent systems at any
given time. Using Bentley software’s shared platform, IT GRID
provides an integrated solution linking various paper-based
systems into one managed environment and streamlining
workflows. The solution saves the client $51,000 per year.
