Argenton 132/33/11kV Substation Design energy australia — mains design
The project consists of designing and constructing an electrical
substation in New South Wales, Australia, to support 40
suburbs in cities of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. The
time for designing, constructing, equipping, and commissioning
the substation was short, and a number of external consultants
worked with Energy Australia on the project.
Using MicroStation for 3D modeling and referencing DWG
files allowed Energy Australia to coordinate the design
process with external consultants, directly evaluating and
comparing design detail between the different consultants’
designs. This helped to coordinate building services and
substation cabling and contributed to fewer problems during
construction, saving design time and construction costs.
Project Wise provided a managed environment for the
drawings and models with tight revision controls. The total
cost savings on the project were approximately $500,000
in the design phase and another $500,000 in construction.
