Hatch Associates Pty., Ltd.
have used the Bentley ETS OnDemand eLearning
to supplement instructor-led training as a refresher
or to reinforce instructor-led training.
Through learning and development programs that
include Bentley Institute's Enterprise Training
Subscription (ETS) program, Hatch increased the
organization's learning capacity by 30 percent,
even while reducing training expenditures from
the previous year.
However, perhaps the greatest value that
Australia-based Hatch has recognized from its
working relationship with Bentley Institute is a
greater appreciation for knowledge sharing not
only within its own organization, but also with its
clients. This knowledge sharing has increased the
level of client satisfaction. ;
The firm instituted a buddy system that incurs less disruption of day-to-day operations, and has reduced
the time required to identify issues and resolve problems, minimizing the impact to project budgets
and schedules. It also increased productivity
through faster access to knowledge and support,
and improved its return on investment in training.
Training resources available through Hatch's ETS
have drastically reduced the amount of time
required for junior engineers to become knowledgeable in the use of Bentley tools and to work
with minimum supervision. Many Hatch engineers
Nebraska Department of Roads—Well-Trained Organization
With usage of MicroStation and GEOPAK
increasing almost daily, and an eye on the productivity benefits of migrating from MicroStation/J
to MicroStation V8, the Nebraska Department of
Roads (NDOR) undertook a sweeping training initiative. Bentley Institute staff traveled to eight locations in Nebraska to teach 120 classes, most of
them over a seven-month period.
While the standard Bentley Institute training courses were underway, Bentley staff worked with
NDOR staff to create manuals and data sets
for nine courses custom-written for NDOR, incorporating the highway agency's workflows into
course manuals. Careful planning enabled
NDOR to have the appropriate software available to users when training began, ensuring that
users could be productive as soon as they completed training.
Accomplishing this training in a timely manner let
NDOR get projects converted from MicroStation
/J to MicroStation V8 and users up and running
quickly. NDOR is now using the latest technolo-
gies and increasing its production with a shorter
on-the-job learning curve. ;
