and as model details change, it sees the
change in the layout, too. And the file
sizes generated are acceptable, -
making possible the use of a normal PC
rather than more high-performance computers.
PLANT SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRATION
Although Tech4you implemented PlantSpace
Design Series into its engineering work on processing equipment, its customers needed workshop drawings with a higher level of detail for cutting, welding, grinding, and CNC processing.
Streamlining this workflow saves
Tech4you AS about 50 percent of
the time spent in most projects. ;
Rather than implement another software program,
the Norwegian company used MicroStation V8
for feature modeling of parts and details, then
devised a structured workflow to transfer these to
a detail drawing.
As a result, drawing production became efficient,
as intelligence between the model and the drawing was preserved. Since many such projects
include development of the equipment as well,
Tech4you is not so vulnerable to changes as it
would be with two CAD systems or more traditional working methods.
CH2M HILL is leading the water reclamation
plant expansion and upgrade for the city of
Rochester, Minnesota. The $60 million project
will increase plant capacity by 25 percent to meet
the demands for residential and commercial
development. The treatment facilities will allow for
incremental growth in the Rochester area for the
next 100 years. The project encompasses site
preparation, influent pump station substructure,
and plant expansion and upgrade.

Using Bentley 3D models, CH2M HILL pro-
duced a product that was easy to visualize
and subsequently review. From a workflow
perspective, these expedited reviews allowed
people who don't normally look at or under-
stand 2D plans to see what was to be built.
Bentley's solutions streamlined workflows for
increased productivity and resulted in higher-
quality deliverables. There were no road-

ware also expedites the construction schedule by
allowing the design team to use the 3D model in
shop drawing reviews and in addressing construc-
tion questions. Cutting time from the schedule has
saved money in both the design and construction
