PET Plastic Raw Material Factory
The PET raw material production complex was
erected on a 30-acre site. More than 30 buildings
and structures were built, including the main block
for PET production, polymerization and polycon-
densation, repositories for various raw materials,
container platforms, warehouses, wastewater
treatment equipment, electricity substations, and
others. This construction project, which is one of
the largest in Lithuania and the largest in the
Klaipeda region, was completed in only a year
and a half.
The company decided to construct the main poly-
condensation and polymerization block in four
stages and execute in three or four synchronized
work areas. Construction supplies and installation
were managed according to synchronized points
of project schedule and no delays were allowed.
Because the probability of mistakes is very high
when this kind of work is done multiple times, all
changes—even minor ones—in supply and working
schedule were simulated in Bentley Navigator to
see the influence on synchronization points and to
take process control action.
The synchronized construction saved time for project teams during construction, and timely information about missed design solutions and possible
supply problems helped to eliminate delays. ;

The design team used AutoPLANT Structural and
PI&D products to generate 772 isometric lines
and arrangement drawings of 854 tons of structural steel. Both 2D and 3D CAD models were
created in conjunction with a project database,
which allowed the firm to extract bills of material.
In addition, the production of annotated 2D drawings and piping isometrics was an important factor in helping Dowding Reynard & Associates
achieve its project deadlines.
Bentley Explorer enabled the firm to conduct regular multidisciplinary review sessions during
which the project was accurately visualized.
Moreover, the application's clash detection system enabled the engineers to eliminate problems
at the design stage. ;
