Advancement Dallas
Link America, Inc.
The goal of the CAD Community
Advancement Dallas (CCAD) project is to
bring needed high-tech job advancement
opportunities within reach of Latino students
and alumni of the Dallas County Community
Colleges (DCCCD), many of whom have CAD
training but are underemployed. Rapidly
changing demographics in Dallas make the
inclusion of people of color a key issue in
achieving a truly diverse workforce, and not
only within the low-wage segment of the
labor market.
This project makes the facilities at Link
America’s headquarters and remote facilities
a virtual extension of the community col-
leges, allowing flexible schedules that do not
interfere with the students’ course work.

pipeline that Link

college students is a true win/win situation. ;

The primary goal of the project is to streamline the operations of departments such as
maintenance, operations, forecasting, planning, and customer service by enabling easy
access to geospatial data and application
services. The business benefits will be more
timely decisions, better workflows, and
greater efficiency.
The user interfaces will include both English
and Arabic languages. Custom security modules will allow access controls for different
groups of users based on their functional operations, and will also log all
access activities.
The geospatial Web services will be
provided by Bentley Web publishing
platforms like Geo Web Publisher.
Custom applications for shortest
route and driving directions will be
developed and integrated with the
Web server.
The first-phase implementation will
be complete by the end of 2005.
Progress to date includes project
initialization, functional requirements analysis, system design, and
database establishing. The following months will see the development of prototype solutions and
site implementation and testing. ;
