ROAD DESIGN
Route 9W Reconstruction
Stage 1
New York State Department
of Transportation
The reconstruction of Route 9W includes
rehabilitating pavement, adding new lanes
and shoulders, improving drainage, landscaping, and other measures to enhance safety
and operations.
InRoads data created by the project designer
transcends the traditional paper plans and
cross sections, increasing confidence in the
engineering data. The quality and accuracy to
which digital terrain models, geometry, and
storm and sanitary data were generated facilitate the effective use of this data for stakeout
and inspection by construction staff.
The project footprint was established, con-
straints were identified, and project work
was estimated using InRoads. This data was
then used by construction staff to verify proj-
ect layout, perform field changes, and carry
out inspection. Construction staff did not
have to re-enter information from paper con-
tract documents; instead, they used data
directly from InRoads.
The ability to transfer data effectively from
design to construction helps extend the
chain of customers using NYSDOT
engineering data, including contractors and
project partners. ;

Jatrabari-Gulistan Flyover
Project
Perunding ZAR Sdn Bhd
In Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, a proposed
$65 million flyover or highway bypass will
serve a key gateway to the city from ports
and other areas south and east. The project
will span seven kilometers, including 3.2 kilometers of main line and 3. 8 kilometers of
ramps. Perunding ZAR’s involvement in this
project includes detailed engineering design,
construction supervision, and technical support during construction.
Using Bentley MXROAD software, Perunding
ZAR was able to make required changes to
the design quickly. MXROAD enhanced
designers’ efficiency without limiting their
ability to use engineering judgment.
