resulting in faster construction. ;
Bentley MX software—including MXROAD,

boundaries within which the design needed
to be created.
The 3D design had to serve as a basis for cost
calculation of the entire project, as information
for the construction engineers during the
design process, and as the overall base for
drawing production. Bentley MX offers the
functionality and speed to produce a 3D
design model such as this in the time required. ;
The project is a tender for the design and
construction of a 10-kilometer highway with
four central lanes for main traffic and two
parallel lanes on each side for local traffic.
The project includes the reconstruction of a
multilevel intersection using flyovers and a
tunnel. The design comprises 30 horizontal
and vertical alignments and corresponding
subdesigns, which combine to form a complete 3D design model within the Bentley
MX environment.
The infrastructure design team’s mission was
to make a 3D model from scratch within
approximately 700 work hours. The only
design data provided was a text file describing the horizontal and vertical alignments, a
reference design in 2D, and a description of
the design parameters that included tight
