Cleveland Innerbelt
Freeway System
Burgess & Niple
The Ohio Department of Transportation
(ODOT) selected Burgess & Niple (B&N) to
lead a team of 13 consultants in the development of the largest transportation infrastructure program to date in Ohio, the redesign of
the Cleveland Innerbelt Freeway System.
Preliminary project costs are estimated at
$921 million.
The Cleveland Innerbelt handles all the traffic flow of four major interstate highways
into and through the city center. Resolution
of the following issues necessitated a new
design:
• The existing transportation infrastructure
is approaching the end of its useful life.
• The operational performance of the
Innerbelt is poor, resulting in travel delays,
high crash rates, and diversion of traffic
through neighborhoods.
• The existing system configuration does
not provide efficient traffic movement
into and out of downtown Cleveland.
Completion of this preliminary design
phase is scheduled for 2007. Project construction could take up to nine years to
complete.
B&N used ProjectWise to create a managed environment that pulled the 13 firms
together while maintaining the privacy of
each organization’s IT structure. B&N
leveraged Project Wise’s Web services, coupled with B&N’s strong network security
systems, to provide each team member
safe, secure, rapid access to all required
project documents. ;

Subway Extension L2 and
New Line 4
CADE-IDEPE Consultores en Ingenieria
Enhancing the quality of life for millions of people, 33 kilometers of new subway line will
serve the Chilean capital of Santiago and nine
outlying communities. Bentley technology cut
project time in half—making it possible,
despite the many disciplines and landmarks
involved, for Cade-Idepe to meet a deadline
set by the president of Chile.
In particular, ProjectWise helped optimize
workflow and reduce paperwork. For
instance, team members received automatic
alerts when a particular document was updated, as determined by an administrator.
In addition, Bentley technology helped create
project visualizations and animations to
keep government and the public informed on
the project. ;
