BIM FOR SIMULATION AND VISUALIZATION: COMPOUND SUBJECT
Lagoon Bay
Dimension Modeling
Dimension Modeling was tasked with creating a detailed model of the links course and
typical street elevations with house designs
for marketing purposes. The visuals and animations extracted were mainly for a multimedia
CD-ROM used by the developer and sales for
marketing plots in the development.
The links course design
consisted of traces and
contours lifted to correct
heights. From the digitized
3D contours, Dimension
Modeling was able to mesh
the course and blend it with
the existing terrain
using MicroStation and
MicroStation TriForma.
Dimension Modeling completed the course with
digital mapping to create
the required animations and
views.
In addition to an abbreviated timetable, most
of the urban and golf course designs were
not yet complete, certainly not in any sort of
CAD format. Besides the overall contours of
the terrain, all the other information was supplied as either hand-drawn layouts or
computer raster files.
The outcome of the marketing media material resulted
in a very successful launch,
both locally and internationally. Most of the estate plots
have already been sold, and
site development work is in
progress. ;

in the 3D model could not be differentiated.
Rather than trying to “unknot” the project,
the team chose to use the 3D model as a reference to create its own TriForma model.

careful planning and precise project
