Conveying to the client the means and schedule
of the building construction via a movie or still
graphics is becoming a standard project
requirement as opposed to a nice feature to
have. The use of Bentley’s suit of BIM solutions
allowed the company to complete this task in
a relatively short timeframe (one week), and
with a staff of only two designers. ;
M+W Zander Shanghai provided a virtual
sequence of construction steps for a semiconductor manufacturing facility. Additionally, an
animation was created to help convey and
further define the construction sequence of
the building.
The use of multimedia materials
created with Bentley applications
provided the company a superior
means of conveying to its client
and governing organizations the
steps involved in the construction
process. Labor hours are greatly
reduced utilizing 3D CAD as
opposed to traditional 2D CAD or
technical illustrations.

garage. The garage is integrated into the
design both functionally and aesthetically,
with the roof of the garages developed as
landscaped gardens and recreational areas.
Light wells brought natural light and ventila-
tion into the garage. The resort-like feeling of
the design is enhanced with resident ameni-
ties such as meeting rooms, clubhouses, exer-
cise rooms, and swimming pools. A small
man-made lake that also serves for storm
water detention further enhances the site. ;
ALH Architects & Graphics was engaged by
one of its clients to generate the 3D images
for a real estate developer who planned the
development of three large high-rise condominiums. After assessing site feasibility,
building configurations, and zoning and code
restraints, the client needed to provide a
design package that would enable the developer to present the design intent to city
officials, as well as market the project to
potential investors. The resulting models and
images created with the high-quality rendering
and visualization tools in MicroStation
enabled the company to put a lot of “Wow”
factor into the presentations.
The plans for one of the luxury condominium
designs included two 12-story residential
towers, as well as a three-level parking
