From the piping models developed for this
project, SSOE used Bentley Structural’s draw-
ing extraction feature to create several evolu-
tionary construction details to delineate the
complex routing and transitions of utility
systems. These details passed the advantages
of building information modeling to fabrication
and construction members of the team. ;
The SSOE and equipment vendors
were able to study facility components in relation to process components in their true magnitude. Clip
volumes, perspective drawing
extractions, and isometric detail
extractions aided in studying these
complex relationships.

The strategy in this project was to make
things easy to understand, using the
exchange of working models between the
architect and structural and services engi-neers.Aspects of the project that needed clarification were quickly isolated and rendered
to make the issues clear without the need for
traditional interpretation of drawings or a
lengthy export and re-render workflow.
The exacting needs of the team required
a fully integrated design solution that would
not limit their vision or restrict their collaborative approach in any way. The two companies therefore opted
for the Bentley BIM
solutions, including
MicroStation V8 2004,
Bentley Structural,
Bentley Architecture,
and Bentley HVAC. ;
