STUDENT COMPETITION: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Talking Galleria
Singapore Polytechnic
The featured space, the architectural gallery,
is placed on the third and fourth stories.
SOHO units are placed on stories nine
through 17. Between the podium and the
tower is a 15-meter-high roof garden for social
activities.
The design intent is expressed in the podium
with two separate blocks connected by
bridges and a stairs with a nine-story tower.
The podium bridges allow experiencing the
view and feel of the Singapore River. Traveling
on the bridge enables one to communicate
with the atrium space (a quadruplet volume),
the floor above, and the floor below as well
as the neighboring buildings. This enables the
architecture to express itself and fit among
the buildings around the site.
MicroStation and Bentley Architecture were
used in the design process from conceptualization to design development. Studies were
made and rendered to communicate the
design ideas. ;
