CUY- 77 Bridge
Michael Baker Corporation
Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.
Baker provided preliminary and final
design engineering services for the replacement of eight bridges over Interstate 77
south of Cleveland, including three local
roadway bridges and five railroad bridges.
The firm used MicroStation, Bentley
InRoads, and Bentley GEOPAK. To present
alternative bridge aesthetics at a public
meeting, Baker created an interactive CD-ROM that lets users see a bridge in a range
of colors and materials. ;

The Fantasy Harbour project site is visible
along the main route into Myrtle Beach,
which justified concern about its aesthetics. In order to convey Fantasy Harbour’s
impact on the community and to win
approval from the area’s local citizens, 3D
visualization was used. MicroStation and
GEOPAK files were used to complete a 3D
drive-through and fly-over, which was presented at the public meeting, along with
large plots of the images submitted.
Thanks to standardization with
MicroStation V8, there was no issue in
using files from different platforms. ;
