Texas State Highway 130
Lone Star Infrastructure
Austin, Texas, U.S.
A 49-mile, $1.5 billion tollway, SH130 is
Texas’first design-build project, the largest
road project in Texas history, and one of the
largest highway projects in the nation.
Engineering and construction consortium
Lone Star Infrastructure (LSI) is led by Fluor
Enterprises, a subsidiary of Fluor
Corporation; Balfour Beatty Construction;
and T.J. Lambrecht. LSI implemented Bentley
Project Wise and Bentley Digital InterPlot to
some 120 users in less than two months.
Workflow improvements were discovered
on a wide variety of fronts, notably in communications among the design team’s 15
disciplines. Thousands of redundant files
and folders were eliminated, and documenting workflow allowed streamlining the
design process. ;
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.
Westport Road is a narrow two-lane road that cannot accommodate rapidly increasing traffic. Also, the Interstate 264 loop
around Louisville crosses over Westport Road but doesn’t offer
an interchange. Road improvement was complicated by the fact
that it was a partially completed project, started by a consultant
but inherited by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC).
Bentley Project Wise enabled KYTC to organize the existing data
more effectively. Also, Project Wise’s efficient file management
allowed 10 designers specializing in different disciplines to
With Project Wise as a single repository for all design data and
correspondence, everyone associated with the project had immediate access to current data and project status. The tight integration of Project Wise with MicroStation and Bentley InRoads
allowed a seamless work environment for design teams. ;
