Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International
Airport, the world’s third busiest airport,
has developed a comprehensive five-year
Capital Development Program (CDP) at an
investment of $2.7 billion. Included are airfield projects, an automated people mover, a
new international terminal, support infrastructure projects, and roadway infrastructure projects.
The new SkyLink Automated People Mover
will ultimately span 4. 81 miles, making it
the world’s largest airport people mover.
More than 51 architectural and engineering
firms worked on the design of Terminal D,
which is equipped with 28 swing gates, a
three-level roadway system and an integrated 298-room Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Because the project was fast-tracked, near
real-time collaboration among the design
team members was paramount. Design standards, productivity, and plotting were met
and maintained among the multidisciplined
consulting firms by using MicroStation in a
structured workspace environment.
Project Wise provided centralized project
content management, intranet/extranet file
security, customized workflow, and near
real-time design team collaboration. It also
satisfies the high level of security required
by federal agencies. ;
